As part of the International Osteology Symposium, which opens in Vienna on April 23, 2026, Patent Medical will host a corporate symposium on Symbionic Teeth. The session will feature renowned experts Prof. Anton Sculean and Dr. Roland Glauser, who will present scientific evidence on how the mucosal defense barrier around Symbionic Teeth prevents plaque migration and bacterial invasion into surrounding tissue, effectively preventing peri-implantitis.
First tooth replacement solution with a proven mucosal defense barrier
Natural teeth are protected by a soft-tissue defense barrier that helps limit plaque migration and bacterial invasion. When a tooth is lost, this protective barrier is lost as well. According to Patent Medical, the Symbionic Teeth concept is designed to restore this protection by forming a mucosal defense barrier and is intended to address common biological complications associated with dental implant therapy. A meta-analysis has reported prevalence rates of 43% for peri-implant mucositis and 22% for peri-implantitis.
Attendees of this year’s International Osteology Symposium are invited to join the free corporate symposium on Thursday, April 23. The session, titled “Symbionic teeth – next generation tooth replacement with a mucosal defense barrier to effectively prevent peri-implantitis,” will begin at 5 p.m. CEST in Auditorium 2 at VIECON – Vienna Congress & Convention Center (Messe Wien).
The symposium is free.
No separate registration is required.
During the session, the speakers will present scientific evidence on the mucosal defense barrier around Symbionic Teeth and discuss treatment outcomes associated with this novel solution for tooth replacement, including soft-tissue health, peri-implantitis prevention, and esthetic stability over time.
