Mimicking nature to deliver long-term implant function

The innovative prosthetic concept of the two-piece Patent™ Implant, with its cemented glass fiber post, is in perfect harmony with the material properties of zirconia, offering unmatched long-term implant function with a minimum risk of fracture.

The rationale for developing the Patent™ Prosthetic Concept was to come as close as possible to nature in order to deliver long-lasting healthy tooth replacement solutions. The Patent™ inventors refrained from developing a screw-based internal connection of a ceramic implant and abutment. One of the major drawbacks of such a connection is that micro-movements occur, which over time can either translate into prosthetic failure or implant movement and bone loss. To eliminate these risks, the engineers developed a novel prosthetic approach for connecting the implant with the prosthetic superstructure, which is in perfect harmony with the material properties of zirconia and which in essence mimics the composition of a natural tooth: A glass fiber post with a dentin-like modulus of elasticity is cemented into the 3C™ platform of the two-piece Patent™ Implant. This highly stable yet flexible post attenuates the masticatory forces transferred through the crown onto the implant in a favorable way. This ideal mechanical and material combination virtually eliminates late-term prosthetic-related complications commonly found in other zirconia-based implant systems. The result is a zirconia implant system that is unmatched in terms of long-term function and stability. The glass fiber post is prepared using a high-speed diamond bur – in the exact same way a post and core would be prepared. When finalizing the prosthetic phase of implant treatment, users can just apply their existing knowledge and put easily into practice what they have learned in their everyday clinical experience.

Science proves the effectiveness of the Patent™ Prosthetic Concept: In a prospective long-term study at the University of Düsseldorf, no fractures were reported for the entire cohort of Patent™ Implants after a functional period of more than 9 years.
